Reiki Healing
Mikao Usui, born in 1865, discovered Reiki during a retreat on Mt Kurama in 1914.
It's believed he developed this system of healing based on a formula he found in ancient Sanskrit Buddhist sutras. Following the formula he went into the mountains and fasted and meditated for 21 days. On the last day he had a vision, which completed his system. Some say that during his vision he received the Reiki symbols that are part of the system. Others say he got the symbols before hand from the Temple where he studied. In either case, the system he developed became an effective tool for healing. Usui Sensei spent the rest of his life sharing his Reiki system and trained many others how to teach it. Before his death in 1926 he had set up a group called the Usui Shiki Ryoho in Tokyo to continue on with the practice after his death. Through this group many teachers have been trained in Japan.
You don't have to be ill or depressed to benefit from Reiki, as it enhances vitality in whoever receives it. But it is extremely beneficial for people with long-standing conditions - both mental and physical - or who have relatives and friends with serious illnesses, who can be given constant Reiki healing in conjunction with their conventional medical treatment .
Reiki is a Japanese word combining "Rei" meaning Universal and "ki" meaning life energy.
It is a form of hands-on healing in which the universal life energy, Reiki , is channelled into a person. What happens in a Reiki session is that the patient draws the energy they need from the healers hands, the healer becoming the channel for this life energy. The healer does not direct or manipulate this energy in any way - they are only providers.
A treatment session involves placing the hands gently on the body. The position is changed every few minutes and the whole session can last between a half and one hour.

In the Reiki 1 class the student is connected by four initiations to this Universal Life Energy. Reiki healing is primarily about self-healing , our first response is to look after ourselves and in the class the student learns about self treatment, and will be competent work on others.
By the end of the weekend the student will be able to work on themselves and be enabled to provide a full treatment on someone else.
In the Reiki 2 students deepen their commitment to Reiki healing. At Reiki 2 there is one initiation. Following the initiation the energy we have available is much stronger. Students learn the skills of distant healing, which makes it possible to send healing to anyone, at any time - a wonderful expansion of possibilities for healing.
Students also learn the mental technique to send healing to deeper psychological levels of our being, and is an invaluable technique for dealing with depression, negativity and those times when we feel stuck.
The Reiki 2 course is available to all who have qualified in Reiki 1 and is certificated.
Seichim is an ancient and sacred form of healing and is said to be the parent energy of all hands-on healing systems with its origins in Ancient Egypt.
It is the energy of the Universe manifested through the feminine vibration of the mother goddess. It helps to balance the yin-female aspect of our being on all levels.
Reiki~Seichim as a combined healing energy is a powerful, safe natural therapy that promotes healing at all levels by the action of gentle nurturing energy flowing through the practitioner's hands.
